Housing project, and support for refugee women suffering from violence
Meaalofa FoundationThe Meaalofa Foundation is German non- profit organisation based in Munich. Through its activities in Athens, with the project HoMER (Housing, Mediation and Education for Refugees), it supports vulnerable refugees, with a special focus on young single women and single mothers and their children, some of whom have also been victims of violence. In particular, it supports temporary accommodation for vulnerable refugees who would otherwise be homeless in the streets of Athens, assists them to obtain documentation and legal help as well as medical/dental /psychological treatment as needed, helps them to acquire language skills and education, encourages them to do sponsored voluntary work and seek employment, and generally tries to empower them and facilitate their social integration.
The Meaalofa Foundation is present in the Victoria Community Centre every Friday 10am to 5 pm, in Room B4. The purpose of its presence in the centre is:
to interact with current or potential beneficiaries of the HoMER project
to hold networking meetings with other NGOs
to provide a consultation & support service to refugee women suffering from violence, in collaboration with the European Network of Women- Greece
